The front was never really an issue (except for the pre-LCI E90) with the Bangle cars IMO, it was the back that was controversial.

And that wagon has a bit of the silhouette of the clown shoe, which is weird in a good way.

Better than the e39?

Well, I certainly like the E60 interior a lot more than the E39.... the exterior I can’t say I do.

I parked next to a e60 Wagon yesterday. I would have to agree. This one had goofy headlights tho so that was a shame

The E60 along with the E65 and E90 are the reasons why people say Bangle was right, they have remarkably aged well.

Especially since everyone started copying their designs later, it also helped to keep the cars looking current.

Everyone hated the design of the Bangle butt 7-series, but was the best selling 7-series of all time and honestly still looks fresh  to this day, along with that era’s 5-series and 3-series.

I never understood the hate. I’ve always liked the E60's. The strong but simple uninterrupted body-line from front to back is my jam. I like design features like that. Cars these days have too many weak and busy lines/creases that start and stop randomly. The E39 is too simple and I don’t like the black trim haha

I think the E60 is overstyled, but nowadays compared to other cars it looks more simple, however, I can’t shake off the understated, strong stance of the E39

They are ugly compared to pre Bangle cars, but they are gorgeous compared to the new BMWs.

Factual observation: BMWs are like Jeeps, in that people whine on the internet about how the newest version is crap, until a newer version is out, which is more crappier, thus mov ing the original one from crappy to great.

See: E46 / E90 BMWs, TJ / JK Jeeps. When they launched? Total crap, ruining the brand. Now? Best ones evarrrrrr.

The headlights irk me too , like accentuated eyebrows.  The side is nice though, smooth, without the slashed-about faux dynamism that has become a fad today.

Man, my 550 was a TOTAL piece of shit. German V8s... well, see that review of mine. The 535 was only partially piece of shit (pumps and plastic parts) .

But I loved them in their own way. And the single best seat of any type I’ve ever experienced. The F10s I’ve driven, by comparison, were garbage.

I’m just saying it’s definitely gotten worse! Honestly, the E60 does look great to me in almost every way, it’s just the swoop on the headlights that I can’t get on board with. (I clearly got over the terrible tail lights on the E90...)

That view of my 535 I posted, the rear 3/4, really sold it for me. They satisfied the viewable angle requirements (and it’s surprisingly square and sharp from that angle), and the aero requirements, with some really complex form development.

And I’m a sucker for light pipes.
